The Road Trip movie seems to be a genre that never goes out of style. It is not only the epic physical distance of the journey that has us hooked, but also the emotional journey that the characters inevitably take during the course of the film. Along the way there will be laughs as well as tears which makes them amongst some of the most favourite films of the cinema going population.

Road Trip

A simple premise executed expertly. Our heroes have to get to the home of one of the guys girlfriends to intercept a video of him making out with another girl. It will never be hailed as a cinematic masterpiece but it’s damn funny. Of course there are hiccups along the way and moments that will make you laugh out loud as well as cringe inwardly.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

John Candy and Steve Martin in one of those films that you either love or hate, but it has to be essential watching for anyone who claims to be a fan of the road trip genre. Martin is attempting to get home to celebrate thanksgiving with his family, everything seems to be going well until he meets up with Candy, and from then on in it is one disaster after another. What should have been a short trip turns into a nightmare of a three day journey which of course takes in planes, trains and automobiles. No stretch of the imagination for where the title came from then.

National Lampoon’s Vacation

National Lampoon may conjure thoughts of Animal House, another stalwart of a classic comedy collection. Though the National Lampoon output may have lost something over recent years, Vacation is the genre at its best. Chevy Chase takes the lead, captured at the peak of his career and carries the humour right through the film. The Griswolds are heading out to a theme park and of course the journey goes less than smoothly. There is something about this film that reminds you of when you were a kid and your parents’ bundled you into the car for an impromptu day out somewhere.

Dumb And Dumber

Acclaimed as one of Jim Carrey’s best roles the movie has an odd storyline which leads to all kinds of scenarios, all involving a briefcase. This has to be one of the most comedic road trip films, and offers plenty of quotes that you can’t help but drop into conversation.

Little Miss Sunshine

Road Trip meets Coming of Age but with something of a twist. Rather than travelling in a SUV like the stylish Ssangyong Korando, the family travel across country in a Volkswagen minibus! The humour is dark, with some dark undercurrents running through it, and you will be made to feel uncomfortable in parts. There are plenty of dysfunctional characters that make up the screen family, but you can’t help but identify with at least one of them along the journey. You will sympathise with them, cry with them and of course laugh with them too. All of which combine to make it one of the must see road trip films of all time.

Released in 1995, Casino was the ultimate casino movie. It was directed by Martin Scorsese and it is based on the book Casino written by Nicholas Pileggi who co-wrote the film’s screenplay. Robert De Niro plays Sam "Ace" Rothstein - a gambling handicapper. The character is based on Frank Rosenthal who was the boss of a number of Las Vegas casinos, including the Hacienda and the Stardust, and worked for the Chicago Outfit who ran organised crime. In the movie he is established as a manager of the Tangiers casino in Las Vegas by the Mob and his role is to oversee daily operations. Sharon Stone plays Sam’s wife Ginger. Nicky Santoro (played by Joe Pesci and who is based on the real character Anthony Spilotro, the Mob enforcer) is sent to the casino to ensure that the Mob got their cut of revenues by skimming it off the top of the takings; you can’t do that at an iphone casino.

Nicky has some anger management problems and before too long he is banned from every casino in Vegas. He subsequently forms his own team of gangsters and stages a number of robberies and shakedowns. Two important developments are Sam and Nicky finding out that Ginger is financing a former boyfriend Lester Diamond and an incident in which Sam fires Donald Ward for incompetence which evokes the ire of Pat Webb - Donald’s brother and Gambling Commissioner. In revenge he arranges for Sam’s casino license application to be rejected. Sam subsequently goes public and accuses the city government of corruption. Unhappy with this publicity Sam is ordered by the Mob to return home but he blames Nicky and a huge row blazes between the pair of them. Sam then finds that Ginger, by now heavily into alcohol and cocaine, has gone to Los Angeles with Lester and the pair are planning to flee to Europe with Amy, Sam and Ginger’s daughter. She is persuaded to return, but soon starts an affair with Nicky however it falls apart and Sam kicks her out.

The police eventually get to the bottom of the skimming operation and the casinos are closed down and the bosses arrested. In a desperate bid to prevent anybody testifying against them, the bosses organise the assassination of everyone else involved. Sam escapes a car bomb which he thinks was placed by Nicky, but Nicky is also murdered and Ginger dies of a drugs overdose. The old casinos are demolished and are replaced by a new generation of them.

Every now and then, a film comes along that breaks all the rules in terms of the stock music used on the soundtrack. Some films have original scores, and some a collection of already existent songs, but presented in a new light. However the music is paired with the film, sometimes it can be utterly memorable. Good music can make a great film, and sometimes you remember the music more than the actual visuals as a catchy tune or powerful track can engrave itself your memory very firmly.

Over the last decade there have been four films with exception soundtracks that I remember time and time again. If you’re looking to recreate a film with a great soundtrack, then be sure to look through the Audio Network Stock Music library to find that perfect track for your project. Let’s take a look at these four movies:

Lost in Translation (2003)

Director: Sofia Coppola. Starring: Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson.

This movie follows the journey of two strangers who meet in mediocre circumstances whilst abroard in Japan. They are both fed up and seek the comfort of each others presence as they develop a warm and loving friendship. As they journey through the unknown landscape of Japan, they realise there is also a lot they don’t know about themselves.

The beautiful soundtrack to this film was comprised from a collection of alternative, obscure and underrated indie tracks, which made the careers for a number of the acts involved. Although the songs weren’t powerful or sometimes ‘complete’, they worked really in the setting of the movie, and perfectly complimented the scenery, atmosphere and emotions of the characters. Lost in Translation is a fairly slow film, with a short script allowing the music to really take centre stage and contribute to the overall experience. Artists featuring on the 2003 film include Jesus & The Mary Chain, Phoenix and Air.

 The Social Network (2010)

Director: David Fincher. Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake.

We all know the familiar story of The Social Network; the colossal uprising of the online phenomenon Facebook. The movie follows the story from one idea to a reality as a young Zuckerberg creates a social online network at Harvard University in order to get popular. The site really takes off and a plethora of legal battles ensue as the various ‘rightful owners’ approach Zuckerberg for what is truly theirs.

The film was an original score by Trent Reznor, formerly of Nine Inch Nails fame. It would be unfair to say this soundtrack was totally underrated, because that isn’t true as it won the award for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures at the 2010 Oscars. Nonetheless, the dark electronic sounds of this soundtrack weren’t an obvious fit for the film, but they came out on top in the end, perfectly depicting the struggles and turbulence the students had setting up the website against the odds.

 Watchmen (2009)

Directory: Zack Snyder. Starring: Jackie Earle Haley, Patrick Wilson, Carla Cugino.

Watchmen was portrayed by a relatively unknown cast, but the visual direction of Zynder and the carefully chosen soundtrack really brought this film to life. Watchmen follows the story of washed up ‘super heroes’ set in an alternate history around the Vietnam War. They reform to track down a killer who appears to be slowly picking off old masked heroes, and what they uncover is far bigger than they first thought.

The music was carefully selected for the messages and meaning of the lyrics. The songs are often melancholic, ironic and based on political issues and views that contrast what’s actually happening in the film. Highlight tracks include Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, Unforgettable by Nat King Cole and The Times They Are A-Changin’ by Bob Dylan. The visuals are spectacular too, as Synder is a master of his craft. When paired with the eloquent music, you have a really special film that is a treat for the senses.

 Steve uses royalty free music from Audio Network for a film project he is working on. Music for films and production music should be at the heart of any visual project, and using the right tracks can be hard, but ultimately, rewarding.

It’s easy to sit back and watch James Bond films, believing in every moment that James, shaken not stirred himself is pulling off all of those awesome moves. Of course, while Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and even Sean Connery sat back with their feet up, a stunt man was putting his neck on the line to make the guys in the smart suits look good. Here, we take a look at a few of the best stunt men in the business.

Rocky Taylor

Rocky Taylor is famous both for acting as stunt double for two different Bond’s in one calendar year, as well as breaking the world record for driving a spinning car through a plate of glass! At the ripe old age of 64 Taylor is still prepared to risk life and limb for nothing more than thrills, and for this, we salute him!

Ben Cooke

This is Ben Cooke - the man who was behind the wheel for Casino Royale’s famous chase scene. Ben has been involved in every manner of stun scene in a variety of films, and is still very much at the height of his career. thanks to an incredible fitness regime which means looking every inch as honed as Daniel Craig himself, Ben should be pretty busy for many years to come.

Derek Lea

Could not imagine him in mountain hardwear

Derek Lea not only has the distinction of being a stunt doubler for James bond - he has also taken time out to show current Prime Minister David Cameron how to throw the perfect punch! of course, David is normally working hard to keep in shape for his next role. Derek has been working in the industry for the last twenty years, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Bob Simmons

Bob Simmons sadly passed away over twenty years ago, but that doesn’t mean that he is not remembered well and fondly by people who know and understand the stunt man profession. Bob was well known for his involvement with the James Bond films, and was involved in every film directed by Terence Young until his death in 1987. He played Bond three times for Sean Connery, and is known to be the only person who has been filmed in the gun barrel silhouette intro scene without actually playing the part of Bond.

Rick Sylvester

The Guardian newspaper once complied a list of the top ten best stunts ever pulled, and it was no surprise to see that Rick Sylvester had been singled out for pulling off an incredible base jump followed by a ski straight off a ledge, followed by a sky dive which resulted in a last second parachute pull which revealed the famous union jack parachute top - a fabulous moment in cinema. Rick Sylvester apparently had to wait at the top of the mountain for two weeks to be able to pull the stunt off properly in the right conditions - that’s dedication! there’s no doubt that e would have got through an incredible amount of ski wear during the shoot - the materials they used on those days were not water proof at all. Stunt men like Rick Sylvester would probably put today’s stunt men to shame. No special diets, old fashioned equipment, but courage and skill in abundance and the will to be creative with the laws of gravity!

The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts is one of the leading nonprofit organizations in the nation. They are specialized in advanced arts as well as arts education.  Today, the institutes have announced that they are taking the entries for Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts announce ninth annual Poster Design Competition for the year 2012. The entries will be received through the 3^rd February 2012. The winners of the competition will be able to earn a complete tuition scholarship for studying at one of the top Art Institutes. There are forty-five Art Institute Schools, where you will be able to get admitted in.

This Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts announce ninth annual Poster Design Competition of this year challenges the high school graduates and the high school seniors from United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

The competition is to design a poster that will express the new theme of the competition. The theme is “You Can Create Tomorrow”. The contestants will be able to compete in two various categories such as high school graduate/adult and high school senior. All you have to do is to fill up the entry form for the competition and prove your talent.

With winter firmly upon us and the Holiday season already here, we love nothing more than to sit in front the TV with a good Christmas movie and a roaring fire. The holidays are a time to chill out, relax and recharge your batteries before getting back to the grind in January.

But why do we feel the need to laze our days away in front of the box while scoffing luxury chocolates by the handful?

The answer; we need that feel good factor!

We all feel a little down and depressed in the winter months due to lack of sunlight but we also feel a little guilty at Christmastime as we have plenty while others do not.

While You Were Sleeping

Lucy (Sandra Bullock) leads a lonely life as a fare collector in Chicago and with no family to speak of she dreams of being married to handsome commuter Peter Callahan (Peter Gallagher) whom she sees everyday at the station. When Peter is mugged and knocked onto the tracks, Lucy rushes to save him from an oncoming train. She then poses as Peter’s fiancee at the hospital and ends up meeting his family while Peter is in a coma. Four Christmases

On Christmas morning happy couple Brad (Vince Vaughn) and Kate (Reese Witherspoon) are off to Fiji to avoid spending Christmas with their two sets of divorced parents. But Fate has a cruel twist up its sleeve, they don’t get to Fuji and they end up visiting all four parents all in one day! As the day wears on they begin to realise they don’t really know each other that well after all. This is exacerbated by remembering all the stuff that happened to them as they were growing up. Is their supposedly perfect relationship without marriage and kids really what they want?

Homeless For The Holidays

Jack Baker (Matt Moore) leads a perfect upper-middle-class life right up until he loses his job as an executive. He then has to master the horror of working at a burger joint to cover the bills but it soon becomes clear that he can’t survive on such poor wages and if something doesn’t change soon they will be homeless by Christmas.

Die Hard

John McClane (Bruce Willis) is going to spend Christmas with his estranged wife in L.A. He is heading to her company’s Christmas party but soon discovers that all the partygoers, including his wife, have been taken hostage by terrorists. Their leader, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) is demanding the release of terrorists from prison in exchange for the lives of the hostages, but is secretly plotting to steal millions in bearer bonds from a vault in the building.Of course, McClane takes all the terrorists on single handed!

The Preachers Wife

When Reverend Henry Biggs  (Courtney B. Vance) prays to God for help with his failing marriage to choir mistress Julia (Whitney Houston) and to stop his church being under threat by property developers, he doesn’t expect his prayers to be answered. God sends him an Angel named Dudley (Denzel Washington) to help out but it seems Dudley sets to cause him even more trouble.

The Family Man

Jack Campbell (Nicholas Cage) is a successful business man. He loves his single life, his Ferrari and his job. But one day he wakes up in a different life, a life where his old girlfriend is now his wife and he’s a father of two kids. He has a minivan instead of a Ferrari and works at a Big Ed’s as a tyre salesman, instead of a president at an investment house. However, he soon learns to live this life and realises just how much was missing from his bachelor existence.

Trading Places

Louis Winthorpe (Dan Ackroyd) is a successful business man who works for two brothers at their company Duke and Duke. The brothers are constantly bickering and this time it’s whether it’s environment or heredity that determines how well a person does in their life. Winthorpe bumps into a street con-artist named Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy) and thinks he is going to rob him so has him arrested. Well, when the Duke brothers see how different Valentine and Winthorpe are, they decide this will bring an end their argument. They decide to place a bet on how Winthrope will do without a job, his home and his dignity, while giving Valentine, Winthorpe’s job to see how he copes.

A remake of a previous original movie or TV show (gee, remember them?) can be a horrid experience to go through, or a glorious "re-imagining" of the concept. Certainly, the Dark Knight movies have shown how to take original material with a previous history of cinematic treatments, and optimize the concept to the highest level of drama, art and entertainment. On the other end of the spectrum, more than disappointing rehashes of the Green Hornet, or relaunches of TV shows like Charlie's Angels have demonstrated the concept can go sideways in almost every respect.

The call or siren attraction of such shows and new films aren't the nostalgia they evoke to current audiences (who may not even remember seeing the original), but in the curiosity they may have in finding out how the cultural icon that is the program or older movie is going to be reworked and revamped. The most recent excellent updating of an iconic concept was Rise of the Planet of the Apes, a movie that deeply exceeded expectations but actually being subtle in its emotional treatment of the main character (a drug induced humanized, sentient ape), using state-of-the-art computerized effects to make the fantasy of the smart animal revolution frighteningly real.

The ability of modern moviemakers to combine this kind of dramatic sophistication with the kind of popcorn excitement that will draw bodies to the Cinema in Oxford, is quite impressive when it works. Then are the dozens of duds, like the recent big-screen version of Yogi bear, that make one long for the nuclear annihilation of all filmmakers who dared to make such a poor adaption of the cartoons to the big screen. What often happens in the case of the latter, is that the bookkeepers decide to bog down an original entertainment concept with "elements" that will satisfy the kiddies, the action hounds, the rom-com moms, or other demographics.

The commercial considerations in making and composing a film can actually interfere with what ever positive elements the original movie or TV show concept had, resulting in a mess. Once in a while, the balance between re-imagining the old while satisfying the new audience to create a solid product, as with the recent remake of the Mechanic. The old Charles Bronson movie from 70s is given a nice facelift in this action vehicle (although some may not like the excess graphic violence and sex). The success of remakes often have as much to do with the cast of actors and director making the right choices, that with the nature of the source material – making the whole thing a head and shoulders tossup, trying to figure out whether a new movie will be a smash, or trash.

The New Movies announce The Dark Knight Rises is based by Comics character Batman and it's sequel of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Movie is announced in IMAX  for better quality of pictures. Movie will be released and presented in USA at July 20th 2012. The Dark Knight Rises will be released by Warner Bros and it will be one of best New Movies of Summer in 2012. Movie starting with some of well known stars as Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and maybe the biggest star in this sequence Morgan Freeman.

One of most interesting news about The Dark Knight Rises Scenes is that they are filmed all around the world. The Crew filmed in India, London, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York, Newark and Pittsburgh.

There are several genres of movie these days, and we all have our own ideas about which of them is best. While some people prefer a good horror film, or a classy whodunit, they’re not everyone’s bucket of popcorn. For me personally, I would always choose the road movie. The adventures of a character trying to get from A to B in the face of several obstacles are as entertaining as they get. On top of this I love driving my Chevrolet contract hire car so it makes sense that I enjoy the road movie!

In turn, it may be difficult to pinpoint which road movie is the best, purely because we all have different individual tastes. Here are some of my favourites, and while you may or may not agree with them, it’s still fun to read about them anyway.

The Hangover (2009)

A hilarious movie that perhaps typifies the whole genre, it starred Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and Zach Galifianakis as four friends who set out for Las Vegas for a bachelor party. While they get to the Nevada city relatively easily, their problems begin when they wake up on the morning after the night before.

Almost Famous (2000)

A movie about life on the rock circuit, centred on a fictional band called Stillwater. A young journalist covers a tour while attempting to get his work featured in Rolling Stone. The film was directed by Cameron Crowe, and starred Billy Crudup and Kate Hudson. A box office success, it was semi-autobiographical and based on Crowe’s early years in the music press.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

This quirky Coen Brothers offering starred George Clooney as escaped prisoner Ulysses Everett McGill, and featured excellent supporting performances from John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson. Set in 1937, the film is based on the trio’s attempts to find some buried treasure in a valley which is due to be flooded to create a man-made lake.

Natural Born Killers (1994)

An Oliver Stone movie, Natural Born Killers began life as a Quentin Tarantino script. The film depicts the exploits of serial killers Mickey (Woody Harrelson) and Mallory Knox (Juliette Lewis). The controversial film pulled no punches, and caused much debate. It had an admirable supporting cast that included Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Downey Jr and Tom Sizemore.

Rain Man (1988)

A touching drama that starred Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman as brothers Charlie and Raymond Babbitt, it featured the adventures of an ambitious yuppie and an autistic savant, and their travels across America. The movie was a worldwide hit and won four Academy Awards, including the Best Actor gong for Hoffman.

Arthur Christmas it's one from New Movies in 2011  3-D animation fantasy comedy movie acquired by Aardman Animations and Sony Pictures Animation and broadcast by Columbia Pictures. It's  brought out about November, 2011 in the UK and on November  2011, in the USA. The movie is directed by Sarah Smith, and it features voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton and Ashley Jensen. Set in the North Pole, the plot tells about Santa's son Arthur Christmas, who must complete a mission before Christmas morning..

The story of Arthur Christmas revolves around the current Santa Claus, his wife, his two sons Arthur and Steve, and their grandfather, Grand-Santa. Set on Christmas Eve night, the film opens with a set of elves sitting behind their computers in the command center of Santa's gigantic, ultra-high-tech sleigh. While Santa and the elves deliver presents to children using fancy advanced equipment and military precision, Santa's oldest son Steve manages the operation at mission control, alongside his obsequious assistant Peter. However, his clumsy younger brother Arthur, who is assigned to handling childrens' letters in the mail department, inadvertently disrupts operations when he enters mission control to place some correspondence and a present falls out of the system as a result.

People discuss a lot about their favorite movies, all time best movies and new movies. Everybody love to see their favorite movie more than one time, and almost everybody remembers some of favorite scenes from their best movies. There are couple movies that we like a lot, but they are not in the list bellow. Those movies are Rounders and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels . Their main story revolves around poker and playing. Those two movies show poker playing really realistic and interesting to watch. If you want to see a poker movie with a whole lot of poker action wherein you could actually pick out a tip or two, Rounders is the movie for you. You will see a lot about the underground world of high stakes poker games in this movie. More so, you will even witness cameo appearances - legendary Johnny Chan being one of them. The poker game in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (2000). A slick and direct approach to the filming of a game of brag. The dialogue as Eddie goes from smelling victory to tasting defeat is worth a mention in any poker list. Party Poker is one of most interesting ways among friends to have fun. In movies actors mostly play for big cash, but friends between each other play for chips or for quarters.

Based on the 1973 telefilm that del Toro believes is the scariest TV production ever made, the story follows Sally (Madison), a young girl who moves to Rhode Island to live with her father (Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Holmes) in the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are preparing a surprise for his fans - the new animated film "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn."  It is 3D capture film based on series of comics books created by Belgian Artist Georges "Hergé" Remi.  It is directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Peter Jackson, and written by Steven Moffat. The Adventures of Tintin will be the first animated movie directed by Spielberg. Although Spielberg is not completely unfamiliar with digital cinematography, the director has firmly stated that he still prefers working with film. The movie is set to be released in North American theaters on December 23, 2011 in RealD 3D and IMAX 3D.

We didn't see female cyborgs in any of this year New Movies.  Japanese costume maker OMI did amazing job recreating the suit of the character known as Grey Fox from the Metal Gear Solid videogame series. This is probably the best Metal gear Solid costume remake ever. If you played game back in the days, i am sure you will recognize this as Grey Fox.

So it’s that inevitable time of year for me this time around. Usually I am planning on jetting off somewhere hot and exciting for my holidays like Thailand or Egypt but the reality this year is that as a graduate, the pennies aren’t in the piggy bank so to speak. So I have settled for little family breaks throughout the year and I will be holidaying in and around the UK. But lets be honest here, not going away to catch some rays royally sucks. I am a definite case of a week of vitamin D and I am at my happiest that’s for sure. So seeing work colleagues and friends book their get aways to Greece, Spain, Europe and the like just makes me depressed. I don’t get any romantic breaks in Europe this time around. Who knows when I will get to experience that ferry to France?

Never mind, I have a plan to cheer myself up! I am gonna fill my summer with true, heart wrenching and emotional romance - just of the cinematic kind and not the real stuff! Water For Elephants

So this has film has just been released in cinemas nationwide and looks to be quite a good romantic film! Based on the acclaimed number-one bestselling book, the story is told from the point of view of Jacob Jankowski (Robert Pattinson), a “ninety or ninety-three year old man” living in a nursing home. It looks back to him as a veterinary student being told that his parents have been killed and he jumps on a train only to learn it belongs to the circus. There he meets and falls in love with Marlena (Reese Witherspoon) the star performer. Against the wrath of Marlena's charismatic but dangerous husband, August.

What’s Your Number?

To kick start your summer film fest properly, why not go to say the romantic flick “What’s Your Number?” starring Anna Faris, Chris Evans, Zachary Quinto (starred as Spock in the 2009 film Star Trek) and Ryan Phillippe. The movie hits our cinema screens on 29th April, starting your romantic movie summer marathon! The film is set in Massachusetts and follows Delilah (Anna’s character) as she realises she has slept with double the amount of men compared to the national average number. The film sees her re-visit these 20 past encounters so she can see if she has “overlooked” anyone special along the way in her attempt to find Mr.Right.

Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids is set to be released on the 13th May this year. It focuses on two warring friends and bridesmaids who battle over how their friends wedding should be planned. This probably makes you immediately think of last years film Bride Wars except this film is a lot edgier. It’s getting positive first reviews from critics and is even being dubbed “the female version of the hangover”. This is really more of a comedy with some weddings and romance thrown in. Definitely more bearable for the men in your life to endure anyway.

Something Borrowed

This is another romantic summer film which has been released in the UK sooner than expected. The film wasn’t originally due to be released until 10th June however, the film seems to have made an early appearance! Based on the book of the same name, Ginnifer Goodwin plays an attorney who is single and miserable and makes the mistake of sleeping with her best friend’s fiance who she has secretly always liked. Can she patch up her friendship with Kate Hudson’s character? Don’t be fooled this is no run of the mill sloppy rom-com as you may first think.

This Means War

No your eyes aren’t deceiving you, that really is Reece Witherspoon again. When celebs decide to work hard they seem to be constantly on our screens for a year or so don’t they! Anyhoo, it also stars Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Tom Hardy (Inception) - two ridiculously good looking men so that’s reason enough to make this summer tome viewing I say! If you also kind of want to know what the plot is...two lifelong best friends fall in love with the same woman and wage an epic city wrecking battle against each other to win her. But I know your minds are still on the two leading hunks!  The release date will be confirmed in June.

One Day

Guess what...this film was based on a book! It follows a couple who hook up on the night of their college graduation and then proceed to meet up once a year for the next twenty years. It documents their lives. Sometimes they are together, sometimes not. The good news is that it stars Anne Hathaway as the lead gal but the downside is that she tries to do a Yorkshire accent! Don’t be put off though, it could be brilliant I haven’t seen the trailer! It has been described as like When Harry Met Sally, except in England, Scotland and France...aaw makes me want to see it after all. It hits our screens 8th July.

Friends with Benefits

If by mid July you aren’t all sick and tired of romance and happy ever afters then on the 22nd you may feel like going to see the film Friends With Benefits. It starts Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. She is a headhunter who convinces him to take a job in New York. Rather than get in to a relationship which they don’t have time for, they get physical! Sounds a bit similar to No Strings Attached but this one looks better.

Footloose

Do you even the remember the first Footloose film? I have to say that a) I’m too young to remember it and b) Kevin Bacon has always kind of freaked me out - so I haven’t seen the original. However, it’s such a classic that I will probably go and see the 2011 remake this summer. Gives me a chance to see what I have been missing out on. Two unknown professional dancers have been cast in the lead roles (Zac Efron pulled out of the project as he didn’t want to make his millionth musical) and will feature new songs. Apparently, it is very much of its time and is receiving good reviews!

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

Don’t worry, if you are far too busy jetting away in your hols and enjoying the great outdoors this summer, you can always catch some great films slightly later in the year too! Coming your way this November (rumoured release) is the highly anticipated Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. The photo stills have started to be released and I can’t hide the fact that I am a massive fan of this franchise and can’t wait for the release. The first part of this two part film sees the characters Bella and Edward get married and conceive a little half child vampire - nice!

New Years Eve

And last but by no means least we have the film New Years Eve. Think last years Valentines Day ensemble but a much, much better sequel. This film sees an all new cast with the exception of Jessica Biel and Ashton Kutcher who play new characters making it not a sequel at all but more like a second bash at it - weird! This time it follows the lives of several couples and singles in New York, as they intertwine over the course of New Year’s Eve. It is due for release December 9th which is of course very apt!

We taking break from new movies at summer and getting back in time when we all was young. Back at late 80s and 90s there was a lot of nice cartoons, and we know main characters as well. Did you ever wonder if they was real, how much years they will have now? On pictures bellow you will see their real ages, and you may be surprised...

HGTV design star has been a ritual which has been ongoing for about five years now. On 6^th June the plan for the 6^th season was rolled out and as one would expect some leading names in the competition over the years are assigned major responsibilities. During the competition each of the contestants would be required to show their designs which would be allowed to compete with others peoples design. The competition follows a particular format. At the end of the week the judges who are saddled with the responsibility of deciding who moves to the next stage will determine which of the HGTV design star will be eliminated.

This process will continue until the final winner emerges. In the previous sessions especially in the first four seasons it was Pearse Clive who will announce the contestant to be eliminated from the contest.

This 6^th season will start from July 11 through September 12 2011. This 6^th season is promising to be very interactive and entertaining. Some of the big names in the design industry have already made it to the final list. They include the professionals in retail merchandise, professional interior designers, artists; and designers must satisfy the judges for any of them to emerge the winner of the competition. Already one time winner of the competition has been appointed to mentor the finalists.

Arguably one of the finest decades for cult movies, the 1950s witnessed a number of great book adaptations and powerful scripts that are worthy of the moniker: classics. One aspect of science fiction that attracts me it can be used to present different views of how we engage in modern life, testing our morality, our vision and our culture while promoting an outlook greater than that just outside our immediate surroundings. This was what was going through my mind when I took advantage of some California car hire on my holiday around Hollywood.

After much thinking and head scratching I’ve compiled this list of my top ten 1950s science fiction films you just have to see.

War of the Worlds

One of my all-time favourite novels, HG Wells crafted an extraordinary tale of relentless invasion of England by Martians in Victorian England. The George Pal film changes the location of modern day America and the alien war machines now glide, rather than walk, across the Earth. While many liberties have been taken with the novel, the film portrays a potent political message that was as true in Wells’ time as it was in the 50s. The denouement where the relentless Martians are defeated by Nature and nothing of Human endeavour serves as a reminder that we, as a race, are not as dominant as we would like to think ourselves. With two film adaptations, a two season television series and a musical; ‘The War of the Worlds’ maintains a prominent position in sci-fi history.

The Thing from another World

Based on the short story ‘Who Goes There?’ by John W Campbell Jr, this is another film that takes liberties with the original but considering Campbell wrote the treatment for the producers I’ll let it pass. Much of current television and movie output is informed by what is happening in the world right now. Science fiction in particular is one of the best media to use to convey a message through allegory and to stimulate the public’s conscience.   The 1950s were no different. It was a time of great uneasiness between the USA and the USSR, America’s worry over communism and the ‘enemy within’ was an omnipresent factor of the day.

The ‘enemy within’ is no longer a parable on communism but touches on uncontrolled immigration and acts of terrorism carried out by your own country’s citizens. Such is the strength of the tale that it is little wonder that a further film was produced in the 80s and a new prequel film is to be released in the latter half of 2011.

Quatermass and the Pit

A quintessential British hero – and unusually for early sci-fi – a prominent scientist who is not a mad professor, Bernard Quatermass of the British Rocket Group learns that the human race are actually Martians that have been settled here. An unsettling idea and a prophetic one which has gathered hints of possibility in recent years with the potential of life-starting matter being found in comets and Martian meteorites.

Earth vs. the Flying Saucers

This is one of the best early flying saucer flicks; notable for its excellent special effects, courtesy of maestro Ray Harryhausen (who unfortunately went on to say in his autobiography that this was his least favourite film to work on). ‘Earth vs. the Flying Saucers’ was inspired by the 1953 non-fiction book ‘Flying Saucers from Outer Space’ by retired U.S. Marine Corps Major Donald E. Keyhoe, who believed that certain aerial phenomena were interplanetary in origin.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

‘Klaatu barada nikto!’ Sorry, but you just can’t mention this film without the stand down instruction to Gort. It’s sort of traditional. This tale is based on ‘Farewell to the Master’, a short story by Harry Bates. Michael Rennie, as the protagonist, puts in an amazing compulsive-viewing performance as the Christ-like alien who comes to Earth offering salvation before dying and then being resurrected. In case this allegory is too subtle, the fact that he adopts the name; Mr Carpenter, should add enough weight to it.

The Incredible Shrinking Man

Think of an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’ and you’ll probably remember he one with the gremlin on the wing of the aeroplane. How about the film ‘Duel’ where Dennis Weaver is chased by a murderous driver in an old petrol tanker? It’s imagery like this that makes Richard Matheson’s work so memorable. In ‘The Incredible Shrinking Man’ Grant Williams plays a character that, after exposure to radioactive dust, begins to shrink. It’s not just the effects and the eerie believability that the film carries, it’s also the nihilistic unstoppable sequence of events that really draw you in and wonder how the heck he’s going to survive.

The Fly

The Jeff Goldblum gorefest remake is probably better remembered than this movie. However, for sheer psychological impact this film is more effective. David Hedison’s screaming of ‘Help meeeee’ as he loses his personality is genuinely terrifying.  This is one of the first ‘body horror’ genre films and it’s easy to see why David Cronenberg chose to remake it.

Forbidden Planet

When you imagine sci-fi flicks of the 50’s then ‘Forbidden Planet’ is right up there. Essentially a version of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ but with spaceships, ray guns, robots and alien planets (and a straight Leslie Nielsen) this movie combined a multi-layered plot and an alien menace that cleverly wasn’t alien.

Them!

Many films of this era preyed upon the worry of radiation and the effects of atom bombs. Commonly this was dramatised by monstrous growth of everyday arthropods (spiders, bees, ants) and size changing humans. Where ‘Them!’ stood out though was its clever build up of threat and menace together with script and performances that made you believe in the story.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

I couldn’t do a top ten without having this gem being present. If you have been lucky enough to see the original film without the tacked on Hollywood happy ending then this Jack Finney tale will stay with you forever. It’s of the McCarthy communism ‘enemy within’ paranoia ilk again. With at least nine remakes/parodies and two separate but derivative television series, the public fascination with alien takeover by the back door and substitution will undoubtedly be remade for each new generation.

Cars 2 is New Movies animation, 3d film is sequel to first part Cars from 2006 year. It's produced by Pixar Animation Studios, and Walt Disney is distributed of this funny animated movie. Just like many other New Movies Cars 2 is scheduled for release in theaters for USA on June 24th, and for the UK on July 22th. Some of best actors featured voices for Cars 2 Movie, and they are Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine and Emily Mortimer. Like some other New Movies Animations, Cars 2 Will be released in Digital 3-d, IMAX 3D and2D.

Cars was second Pixar Movie, after Toy Story to have sequel. Cars 2 first plan was to scheduled movie to Summer 2012, but Pixar decided to release it whole year earlier.

Harry Potter latest part in New Movies called Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and everyone can't wait to watch it. In the Harry Potter world, not all wizards are heroes. Some of them have MBA, some of them are PR people, social media experts and even marketing professionals. All book covers are designed by Amy Sly who have some serious graphic design skills. Harry potter movies are well known to all public and they are really popular. This was enough for Amy who uses Harry Potter as inspiration for shes harry potter artwork.

No Movie would be complete without a good fight scene or two. Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I also enjoy a good car chase where an ordinary city car seems to morph in to a formula 1 racing car and afterwards I’m obsessed with buying a Colt Cleartec like the main character! But if acted out right the fight scenes can be packed with just as much action and gives just as good an adrenaline rush as the actors beat the living daylights out of one another. Whether it’s whole armies of people fighting each other or simply one on one fisty cuffs, we just can’t get enough of it.

Maybe it’s a fantasy of ours to be able to beat someone up like that or just simply the thought of being able to hold your own in a fight situation. Most of us are so suppressed in our lives and work, it’s no wonder we are reaching for these kind of movies to fulfill our fantasies. Maybe if we had the bottle like some of these characters, we wouldn’t be such pushovers and we would stand up for ourselves a lot more.Most of us are just so sedate that we would let other people wipe their feet, as they walk over us. Basically the typical doormat.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

These movies are pure escapism and not to be acted out in real life, or you could end up in real trouble, either with the Police or by getting your lights punched out, especially if you are a bit of a wimp.Take Fight Club, they pick fights with strangers just for the fun of it, not really advisable as you’ll end up either in the nick or in hospital. So I wouldn’t advise anyone to try these fight moves, but I do think it’s a good idea to try some form of self defence, as you never know what kind of situation you could find yourself in these days.

Equilibrium

Emotion is illegal in this film, so therefore loads of things like music, books poems etc are not allowed and must be destroyed. People are given drugs to suppress feelings. But all hell breaks loose when Preston (Bale) doesn’t take his drugs and begins feeling again. He is out to bring down the corrupt Government and anyone else who gets in his way.

Movie starts when Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent Jewel, he takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with this bird of his dreams. Cook plays the role of the corrupt sheriff.
